Prison Ministry is a career path for those who want to share their faith and help others find the word of God. Although prison ministers may face some challenges, they can assist inmates with guidance and spiritual needs.
Educational Requirements
To become a Prison Minister, one normally must earn their degree or enter Seminary. Once the candidate has the qualifications to become a minister, there are some different career avenues they can explore, like Prison Ministry.
While the responsibilities can differ, prison ministers are employed either by a church affiliated with a prison or the prison itself. Some correctional facilities have a chapel on-sight where ministers are employed or volunteer.
Additional Duties of a Prison Minister
As a prison minister, individuals can provide a number of services to inmates and staff, such as:
- Training volunteers
- Presenting seminars to inmates
- Counseling those in need
- Assisting inmates transiting back into the community
